Swimming Pool Safety Act and Regulations
We administer the Swimming Pool Safety Act 2004 and supporting Regulations to establish safety standards for certain swimming pools and encourage compliance with those standards.
The Act outlines the minimum requirements for swimming pool/spa barriers and provides our staff with the authority to take measures should a person be contravening the Act.
In 2010-11, we inspected 530 new properties for pool or spa advice and issued 1000 certificates of compliance, including provisional compliance certificates under the Swimming Pool Safety Act 2004.
