Water Safety Education
The Education Unit was formed in 2004 to raise awareness about water safety.
The role of the Education Unit is to:
- Encourage safer participation in and around water through the development of ongoing programs such as 'Water Safety Week'.
- Promote, and make available, water safety related resources which can be downloaded from the publications page; these include the 'Marine Safety Activity Book' and the 'Good Ideas Book'.
- Establish best practice water safety standards and guidelines.
- Monitor drowning and near drowning injuries in order to provide accessible, accurate information.
The Education Unit staff are available to visit schools and other organisation; please call 1300 301 059 for more information.
We recommend you stop by this site regularly to view updates on Water Safety Week, competition details, new resources and information on future programs.
